Ellington Ag Center
Davidson Co.
I had my first Purple Finch ever for Ellington this morning, singing in the
trees right above the iris garden parking lot off Hogan Rd./Marchant Dr. That
makes 108 species in 1 1/2 years recording there. There was also a pair of
Eastern Phoebes, a pair of American Kestrels, a pair of Red-tailed Hawks
nesting
on the electrical tower along the Edmondson Pk. field, and a pair of Brown
Creepers. Lots of pairing up these days. The Red-winged Blackbirds are back
and singing, and the Field Sparrows are also in full song.
I also had an American Woodcock displaying from the big sparrow field there
on 2/21, and others heard them there last week.
