[TN-Bird] Common Redpoll Seen This Afternoon

We detoured to Hohenwald as we returned from Alabama this morning. Arrived at
Mrs. Russell's house at 11:30 and twenty minutes later Virginia saw the Redpoll
but before I could swing my glasses away from another feeder, it was gone.
Then all the birds disappeared as Crows were fighting a Red-tailed Hawk just
south of the yard. They slowly began coming back and at 1:00 p.m. the Redpoll
came into the bush to the right of the feeders, flew down on the bench that
faces the yard, then up to the feeder beside the picnic table where he ate for
several minutes.
What is it that is so cute about a lone bird in an unusual place? We've seen
flocks of Common Redpolls in Michigan and Minnesota, but this little fellow
seemed prettier than those in their usual habitat.
