[TN-Bird] Chickamauga Lake Birds- snipe, least sandpiper, bald eagle

I birded Chickamauga Lake today (March 5, 2007). The areas I visited with a
list of select birds are listed below. All sites are found on page 25 of
the fifth edition Delorme Tennessee Atlas and Gazetteer.
Old River Road off of State Route 308 on the Bradley and McMinn County line
from 9:37 to 10:05:
Killdeer- 2
Wilson snipe- 19
Sandhill crane- 1
Tree swallow- 2
Candies Creek embayment off of State Route 308 in Bradley County from 10:17
to 10:36
Killdeer- 18
Least sandpiper- 3
Great blue heron- 14
Green-winged teal- 13
Gadwall- 6
Sugar Creek embayment off State Route 306 in Meigs County from 10:48 to
11:12
Wilson snipe- 3
Northern harrier- 1
American pipit- 1
Gunstocker Creek embayment in Meigs County from 11:22 to 11:43
Killdeer- 46
American pipit- 20
Wilson snipe- 1
Hiwassee Refuge Wildlife Observation Area in Meigs County from 12:30 to
12:50
Canada goose- 15
American widgeon- at least 2
Gadwall- at least 7
Northern shoveler- 4
Ring-necked duck- present (too far out to identify a possible raft of this
species)
Sandhill crane- one maybe 2 fly over
Price's Creek embayment off Lamontville Road in Meigs County from 1:43 to
1:50
nothing worth reporting
Roger's Creek embayment off Lamontville Road in McMinn County from 1:57 to
2:55
Killdeer- 24
Least sandpiper- 26
Wilson snipe- 54
Hooded merganser- 3
Wood duck- 3
A heronry in this area has about 66 nests. At least 60 great blue herons
seen in heronry.
North Mouse Creek embayment off Lamontville Road in McMinn County from 3:02
to 3:22
Wilson snipe- 1
A Bald Eagle nest in Meigs County along the Hiwassee River had one
well-feathered nestling. One adult was seen at this nest.
