Greene County (various spots in the western portion--communities of
Midway, Mohawk, Warrensburg, Pate's Hill)
I observed the following in a brief western Greene County swing this
afternoon:
Canada Goose (47);
Wood Duck (2);
Gadwall (3);
Northern Pintail (at Wal-Mart Distribution Center);
Ring-necked Duck (33+--25+ on Gravel Woods Road, 8 on Toby Road; a high
total for Greene County);
Great Blue Heron (4--including 2 birds standing on nests along the
Nolichuckey River at the intersection of Pate's Hill Road and Jackson
Hollow Road; GBHE were also observed on nests at this site last spring);
Northern Harrier;
Wilson's Snipe (23);
American Pipit (75+ on Green Road);
Savannah Sparrow (5 on Sapp Road, including 1 singing male);
White-crowned Sparrow.
