Mud Island
Shelby Co. TN
I found the big Peregrine again sitting on the Dacus Sandbar. This bird has
been around the area all winter. Today, about a hundred yards away, I saw
another smaller (male?) busy stripping and eating a hearty breakfast. When the
smaller bird finished and cleaned up, it took to the air and flew straight over
the other bird swooped down but it did not appear to be anything other than
just a greeting as the other bird took little notice. Me thinks there is
romance in the air on the Mississippi. These birds can have their pick of any
of
our bridges and all the Rock Pigeons they can eat.
The lone White Pelican with the bad wing that has been hanging around the
river front was seen on McKellar Lake. This bird can fly but seems to be good
for short distances only.
Good Birding !!!
