This morning 3/13, I took the dogs for a walk in the
upper section of Foothills WMA (off TN Rt. 336/Six
Mile Rd) in South Blount County, I had my first of
spring singing BLUE HEADED VIREO.  I *think* I may
have beat 
Charlie on this bird (a VERY rare occurence for me). 
Of course, the fact that he is away for the weekend
has nothing to do with this ;-)  ).

Earlier this morning I made a mental note that our
yard has LACKED PURPLE FINCHes and DARK EYED JUNCOs
for about a week now.

Spring is definitely upon us.
