[TN-Bird] Seven Islands WMA

Spent nearly 3 hours walking around the 7 Islands refuge in east Knox
County, Tennessee this morning, beginning at 10:50 a.m. I didn't see as
many birds as I usually do here but it was very windy with the wind coming
in great gusts that had me looking over my shoulder frequently to see if a
truck was approaching (only one time was truck actually approaching).

The most numerous species was tree swallow with at least 40 of them over the
river and the burnt field next to the river. I also spotted a couple of
purple martins at that location among the tree swallows.

Second most numerous species were Canada geese - 22 on the river along with
a great blue heron.

Other birds seen included a palm warbler, Eastern bluebirds, two turkey
vultures and 3 crows.

I didn't see one starling which is odd because there are usually lots. I've
even seen hundreds or thousands of them there. Also no bluejays though I
heard one as I was leaving on Kelly Road.

It was difficult to listen for birdsong because of the wind; when it was
gusting you couldn't hear anything above the roar. Aside from being windy
it was a beautiful day for a walk, sunny & warm.

I may have seen an eagle but only got a brief look from a distance before it
flew around a bend and out of sight.

There were lots of LBJs but they weren't singing (except for one song
sparrow) and always seemed to disappear as soon as I spotted them.

Other birds seen/heard:

Northern cardinal
Carolina wren
Carolina chickadee
tufted titmouse
Mourning doves (2)
Robin
