Today March 7, 2005, I took my Grandson to see the ducks at Shutes Branch 
Recreation Area on Old Hickory Lake in Hermitage, TN, Davidson County.  Seen 
were:

Common Loon:  1
Great Blue Heron:  5
Ring-billed Gull:  60
Mallard:  30
American Coot:  7
Canada Goose:  20
Belted Kingfisher:  3
Muscovy Duck:  2 (Including one VERY friendly one that tried to get in the car 
and leave with us).
American Crow:  5
Eastern Bluebird:  5
Blue Jays:  4
Carolina Chickadee:  5
Tufted Titmouse:  3
Dark-eyed Junco:  5
Northern Flicker:  1

This time of year is always very productive at Shutes Branch and usually has a 
few surprises.
