David Thometz and Bryan Stevens did some birding in and around Elizabethton, 
Carter Co., TN, this afternoon (March 6). We watched a soar Red-tailed Hawk at 
Sycamore Shoals State Park in Elizabethton.
At Wilbur Lake, Buffleheads are still present. From the overlook at Watauga 
Lake we saw 2 Red-breasted Mergansers (both drakes), seven Ring-necked Ducks 
and 300+ Ring-billed Gulls. 

At Rasar Farm/Watauga River in Elizabethton, TN, we saw a mixed flock of 150+ 
Red-winged Blackbirds and Common Grackles.

A few Buffleheads are also scattered on the river.
