Today a quick trip to TVA Lake to sort through the scaup for that long 
awaited Tufted Duck;o) did produce an odd sighting. As Ring-billed and 
Herring Gulls traded in and out from McKellar Lake, I noted a slightly larger 
white bird flying in a loose formation of gulls. As they came in and settled 
together, I was set back when the bird turned out to be a Cattle Egret. The 
egret was already sporting some of its golden breeding attire. It settled in 
with the gulls and made itself right at home preening and jostling with its 
white plumaged brothers.

On the way home from work, in Bartlett, another kettle of Turkey Vultures was 
seen as they soared up through the broken gray bottomed, pink topped left 
overs from this mornings storms. I think I got in on the last of the birds as 
they straight lined it off the top of the kettle. Only 18 birds were counted 
but the line extended as far as I could see.
