FreeLists / tn-bird / [TN-Bird] Ross's geese at Cove Lake

Tn-birders,

Frank Bills, Sharon Bostick, Dollyann Myers and myself went to Cove Lake State 
Park in Campbell Co. (now $3 per visit) to look for waterfowl and whatever else 
might be around. The lake was not very productive , with only 3 Gadwall, the 
resident Mute Swan, and a few coots and Mallards. As we were driving out the 
highway to go back home, we noticed some large white birds on the back side of 
one of the small islands in the middle of the lake. We stopped on the highway 
(not recommended) and got a scope on them. There were 3 white Snow Geese, one 
Blue morph Snow Goose and 3 Ross's Geese. These might be 3 of the 4 Ross's 
Geese that have been seen at Eagle bend fish hatchery earlier this week, but 
since Eagle bend is closed on the weekend, there's no way to tell for sure. 
This sighting was about 1230 today.
