[TN-Bird] Mourning Cloak/Red-winged Blackbird

Two good visitors to my yard in Lewis County today. I had my first Mourning
Cloak of the spring fly through. That's a good sign--I hope!
Another visitor was unusual--a male Red-winged Blackbird. This was a first.
He caught my eye and at first I thought that the cowbirds were starting to come
into the woods as they do every spring. But a second look showed me part of
his shoulder patch. He enjoyed some sunflower seeds then moved on.
Yesterday, while at work I observed a Sharp-shinned Hawk walking and stalking.
This is the second time I have seen a sharpie at this location hunting like
this. The sparrow population is good, they like to feed on last years
vegetation and the seeds I put out for them. The sharpie then walks into the
tall field looking to flush dinner out. Both times it has succeeded.
Enjoy the sunshine!
