I observed the following today in Greene County:
Wood Duck (10, at various sites);
Green-winged Teal (33 at Wal-Mart Distribution Center in Midway);
Gadwall (4 at Wal-Mart Distribution Center);
Ring-necked Duck (on Blue Springs Parkway near Mosheim);
Lesser Yellowlegs (2 at Wal-Mart Distribution Center);
Common Snipe (62+ at various sites, including 50+ at Lick Creek Bottoms
Wildlife Management Area unit on Highway 348 in Beulah);
Red-breasted Nuthatch (in our backyard in Greeneville);
American Pipit (6 on Green Road);
Palm Warbler (in Graysburg);
Savannah Sparrow (17 at a farm near Tusculum);
Rusty Blackbird (60+ on Green Road);
Brewer's Blackbird (female in flock with Rusties on Green Road);
Purple Finch (6--5 in our backyard in Greeneville, 1 nearby in town).
Interesting notes on Lesser Yellowlegs and Brewer's Blackbird: last year
I observed both species in western Greene County on March 19; this
year's date is the earliest spring record I have in the county for
Lesser Yellowlegs.
I also found a Clouded Sulphur this afternoon in a pasture near
Tusculum.
