Dear friends of Tennessee Birds,

As Nancy Fraley's lengthy piece points out, this land purchase battle is no
trivial matter.
TWRA, TOS, Tenn. Citizens for Wilderness Planning, the Tenn. Conservation
League, The Nature Conservancy, as well as other organizations, are working hard
to get this 75,000 acres purchased by the state instead of this development
group.
At stake is more than Cerulean Warbler habitat.  This area is prime habitat for
numerous bird species (and other wildlife) that are not common in
Tennessee--such as Golden-winged Warblers--and for at least two dozen species of
conservation concern according to Partners in Flight.

To reiterate one key point about one thing YOU can do:
The Anderson County Commission is meeting about this issue on Monday, March
11, 6 p.m., in the Anderson County Courthouse in Clinton, 3rd-floor
courtroom. It is very important to be there and speak on behalf of the TWRA
acquisition -- even a few words.  If you wish to address the county commission,
please have them contact Mrs. Mary Murphy at 865-457-5400 ext. 844.

Letters to state legislators and local officials are obviously effective.
Please do all you can!!!
