[tn-bird] Cult of vultures

Another observation in my continued scrutiny of the vultures residing in the
Jacobs Creek vicinity of Sullivan Co. They do indeed move from the night roost
to a sunning spot about 200 yds away. Yesterday morning (Wed. March 6) they
positioned themselves in the oaks overlooking the JC entrance. There were
15-20 per tree and various ones were spreading their wings and looking like so
many arboreal cormorants worshipping the return of the sun.
Marion Finucane's speculation about students knocking each other off as the
attraction for these scavenging birds suggests a more likely possibility.
These kids are never in a hurry. Perhaps their slow pace when moving between
buildings offers hope to these opportunistic birds. I, as the one most
proximate to the vulture's morning perch, continue to move briskly when about
my tasks!
