[tn-bird] Spring creeps closer

Last Sunday (2/24) we noted a pair of ospreys on the powerline pylon at
the confluence of Riley's Creek & the Tennessee R. south of Kingston.
One was in the nest and the other was standing one "rung" down on the
pylon. Yesterday morning I drove past a swallow perched on a telephone
wire, quite dark above and bright white underparts. I couldn't stop for
a clearer reconnoiter, but it sure looked like a Tree Swallow; I could
see no breast markings. I certainly did not expect to see a swallow on
March 1st (nor the Phoebe I heard on Feb. 16th)!
I haven't seen "my" 2 male Purple finches in the past few days, but 2
females are still here. Also 30-50 Goldfinches, a handful of Juncos, and
a double handful of White-throated sparrows.
