[tn-bird] Wapanocca NWR and woodcocks

Yesterday I went to Wapanocca NWR and saw my first red-shouldered hawk.
I'm a fairly novice birder, so lucky for me it was right by the side of
the road and screaming loudly. The area was thick with flickers in the
woods and coots in the water. I got a good close-up look at a pair of
hooded mergansers. In the back of the nature trail there were numerous
northern shovelers, gadwalls, and four pair of American widgeons. I was
also treated to a possum's leisurely stoll along the flooded field there.
I've never seen a woodcock, and probably don't know where and how to
look; could someone advise me?
