While in the field earlier today (11:30 a.m.) I observed a lone American
white pelican flying over the Toqua Campground Area on Tellico
Reservoir. Toqua Campground is located off Tennessee Hwy. 360
approximately 3+ miles south of Vonore. The pelican was first observed
flying over the reservoir and was last seen moving west toward the
Tellico River arm of the reservoir. Two of our maintenance base
employees who are working on a shoreline stabilization project in the
area reported seeing around 10 pelicans on the big water near Toqua a
few days back.
