FreeLists / tn-bird / [TN-Bird] Sandhills Migrating

After the front came through recently I guess it prompted a migration because 
the Cranes were flying due north over my location here on the northern Putnam 
Overton county line at the intersection of routes 136 and 293.
At about 11:00 AM I heard them as soon as I walked outside. I looked for them 
for 5-10 minutes but didn't see them. When I went back out at about 11:50AM I 
saw a flock of about 200 of them circling, gaining altitude for about 5 more 
minutes then they collectively started heading due north. At that time there 
was a seperate flock of about 50 Cranes that flew right over head headed north.
I guess spring is not far off.
Could it be that the large flock that I saw kettling are spending nights on the 
ground here close by? If so I guess I need to be looking for them.
