[TN-Bird] Re: female Peregrine

For what it is worth, I saw a Peregrine Falcon flying over Vanderbilt
Football stadium in the fall of 2005 while watching a football game =
there.
Interestingly, I can remember the bird, but not who Vanderbilt played =
that
day. I recall asking Chris Sloan about Peregrines in Nashville, but I
honestly cannot recall exactly what I asked or what he answered. That =
would
have been in September or October of 2005.

The immature female Peregrine that I reported a couple of times in =
January=20
just went lazily by my office window again (I'm in the Music Row =
Roundabout
just outside downtown Nashville). She was again headed roughly west =
from =20
here. I am going to bring my camera tomorrow; if she keeps coming by =
this
close=20
I should be able to get some good pics.
It's conceivable to me that this is the same bird being reported from=20
Vanderbilt, since Vanderbilt is only a few miles west of here, although
that bird=20
was reported initially as an adult and this one is clearly an immature
(but, I=20
have the benefit of relatively close eye-level binocular views).

Chris,
=20
The peregrine that I had on my window sill at St. Thomas in January of =
2007
was an adult..............less than 10 feet away from me. That's within =
=20
range, or so I understand, of yours and the one at Vandy. Maybe we have =
a
family=20
(or families) somewhere??? I sort of had the feeling that mine might =
have
a=20
nest on St. Thomas' roof or something. I still get both adult and =
immature
birds at my house in the Charlotte Park section of West Nashville now =
and=20
then. Since lots of rock pigeons use my feeder, I get a fair share of=20
peregrines and have for quite a few years. I try to report them every =
time
I see one,=20
but I may have forgotten to mention one that came by to check the deck =
just
before Christmas. It was a busy time. They like to perch on a =
neighbor's=20
tree at the side of my house then "sneak in and snatch" a pigeon from =
the
deck=20
and be gone before I even know they are around, much less in time for =
me to
grab my camera off the dining table and "shoot 'em."
