[TN-Bird] FW: Feed or not to feed

I have a resident Cooper's Hawk and I figure she has to eat, too. When she
strikes, you'd think a bomb has exploded -- birds and squirrels go EVERYWHERE.
Since I'm seldom home during daylight hours, I have no idea how often she feeds
on "my" driveway birds, but it doesn't appear she's daunting them -- their
numbers have been steadily increasing thru the winter. Hopefully she'll remain
this low-key.

I live in Morristown, Hamblen County, and I have a sharp-shinned hawk that
likes to "hang around my feeders" also, so I had hoped some of the responses
to Mr. Hassler's letter would be available on the freelist. While my problem
doesn't seem quiet as bad as Mr. Hassler's, I would be interested in hearing
how other people handle this problem.
I know my beautiful sharp-shinned has to eat also, but I feel guilty when I
help provide a "banquet table" for him!
Most of my feeders are in somewhat protected places and have plastic domes
over them, but I still see my sharpie fairly often.
I participate in Feeder Watch and I don't want to loose the pleasure I
receive from feeding the birds, but I would appreciate any suggestions for
making my feeder stations safer for my songbirds.
Thanks.
