[TN-Bird] SHARP-SHINNED at Bellevue, behind mall; red-tailed hawk also

Greetings,
About 4 PM yesterday, a sharp-shinned hawk was wheeling & turning above a
house on Bellevue's Sawyer Brown Road right between the Macy's in Bellevue
Mall
and the Waterford Assisted Living Facility. It was a perfect specimen with
the LONG tail appearing even longer than most as it rode the thermal while
searching for a meal. It broke soaring cadence a couple of times to go after
small pray, but it resumed soaring after "misses." It was close enough to my
window at the Waterford that I had a "front row ringside" seat. Also,
earlier in the day (noonish), I was outside to feed a hungry mockingbird (yes,
I
already have a new one here that has to be satisfied with my left-over rolls),
when a red-tailed hawk spied something from on high and honed in on as it
began a long plunge toward an area behind trees from me. I never saw the bird
come up after the plunge, so it may have connected with its prey and been able
to eat it on site which I have seen red-tails do many times.
Happy birding.
