[TN-Bird] Clark Center Park, Anderson County, Sunday, Feb. 4

Walked around Clark Center Park in Oak Ridge (Anderson County) from 2 to
3:40 p.m. yesterday afternoon. A little cold but a beautiful day.
Highlights were 4 Hermit Thrushes and 3 Brown Creepers (2 on the same tree).
All the Hermit Thrushes I'd previously seen had either been skulking in the
underbrush or calling from high in a tree. Yesterday was the first I'd seen
them hopping around on the ground like sparrows--all except the first
(skulking). Two were foraging on the ground in the area between the water
and the volleyball court (along with multitudes of juncoes) and the last
dropped down from the roof of the maintenance building next to the parking
lot as I was returning to my car.
The birds were being pretty quiet but I've noticed that they will be quiet
in cold weather.
Here's my count:
Canada Goose 2
Pied-billed Grebe 2 (in the water at the entrance just off Pumphouse
Road)
Great Blue Heron 2
Black Vulture 3
Red-tailed Hawk 1
Ring-billed Gull 25
Yellow-bellied Sapsucker 1
Northern Flicker 3
American Crow 1
Tufted Titmouse 3
Brown Creeper 3
Eastern Bluebird 15+
Hermit Thrush 4
Northern Mockingbird 1
Field Sparrow 1
Song Sparrow 3
White-throated Sparrow 5
Dark-eyed Junco 70+
Northern Cardinal 3
