[TN-Bird] Futile Search for Cowbird

After an hour of looking around the fields and yards on the west side of
Smithville, we could not locate the flock of Rusty Blackbirds and Brown-headed
Cowbirds we had seen in our yard. We did find a larger group of over 200
Rustys but there were no cowbirds with them, only about 50 European Starlings.
We followed this bunch until they began to feed in a garden plot and I scoped
them in vain. We did find probably 30 Meadowlarks, lots of Robins, several
Starling flocks, and 2 Eurasian Collared Doves in addition to the usual
Red-tailed Hawks and American Kestrels.
The cowbird in our backyard had the chest and side markings of the immature
Shiny, which was what caught my eye as I looked through the group, but I did
not get a look at the eye. I know the likelihood it was a Shiny is miniscule
but it would be great to have another look.
