Seeing and reporting on Willie today is more of a surprise to us than it
is to those of you reading it.  We left Smithville this morning at 3:30
a.m. for our trip to Minnesota.  But after three hours of driving, the
urinary infection Virginia has been battling for several weeks ,and
thought a new antibiotic had cured, returned full-force.  She was in
such pain and discomfort we decided it was futile to try and drive
another 20 hours or so to get to Duluth, drive around that area for
three days, then make the long return trip.  

That is the bad news.  The good news is we walked through the front
door, looked out the back door at the feeder, and Willie was there at
9:55 a.m. drinking big gulps of sugar water.  No matter how sick or sad
you are, seeing him revives you!  Maybe the pain was really coming from
Willie withdrawal.  

So we are cancelling plans for Minnesota for now and will continue our
daily reports as usual.
