[TN-Bird] Tree sparrow at "Smorgabird."

Hello,
With the expected rain threatening and the wind blowing, my second tree
sparrow of the year "blew" in to feed on my deck here in the Charlotte Park
section
of West Nashville just a few blocks east of the Cumberland River's old
Cleece's Ferry landing in Davidson County. The breast spot on the unstreaked
breast,
rusty cap, bicolored bill & wing bars were (are again now) all "flaunted"
right in front of me making its identity a "no brainer."

The bird ate hurriedly for a minute or so, then flew away. Now it is back,
scurrying around and eating quickly only about 8 feet from where I am sitting
at my computer just inside my French doors to the deck. Isn't it interesting
how a bird will show up at a feeding area unfamiliar to it and be quite wary of
all the "regulars" at the "smorgabird" much as many humans show an
uncertainty when they go to a "new" place or join a "new" group where the
people are
unfamiliar to them? Makes us realize how much we might have in common with
other
creatures in nature. I notice this with almost every bird that comes in to
join my regular feeder "family" who usually seem comfortable with each other
and somewhat aloof to their existence at times. It's THEIR neighborhood! Each
year, it also seems to take a couple of days for the winter visitors to
comfortably integrate themselves into the "social order" of the regular summer
resident birds that do not migrate.

Cheers, prayers and super birding wishes to all,

Dee Thompson
Nashville, TN
