Alice Loftin and I travelled to the western end of the county this
afternoon looking especially for icterids and harriers. Luck was with
us in both instances, with a little extra to boot. Here are the high
points:
Northern Harrier (16, conservatively counted, at JBR at dusk--this is my
highest single-site total for harriers);
Cooper's Hawk (at JBR);
Red-tailed Hawk (6);
American Kestrel (8);
Loggerhead Shrike (at intersection of Highway 348 and Highway 340);
Horned Lark (along Highway 340);
Rusty Blackbird (at least 12 on Toby Road and Glades Road);
Brewer's Blackbird (at least 1 on Toby Road).
