A 1st winter Lesser Black-backed Gull was found on Nickajack Lake this
afternoon. It was seen from the New Hope side of the lake at the parking lot
near
the dam. I observed the bird near the orange and white bouys nearest the dam
for about 45 mins. It was resting on the water with 25 Herring Gulls and
several hundred Ring-bills. I never saw the bird fly but it was in great light
and
I had great comparsion with the Herrings. Sibleys has the best pictures of
1st winter birds.
