Pickwick Dam
I have talked to Jeff Wilson again, and this afternoon they have had
great looks at a 1st-winter Thayer's and FOUR 1st-winter Lesser
Black-backed Gulls. These birds are all in the immediate vicinity of the
Dam. A quick run through the fields where the Thayer's etc. has been
found in the past yielded no surprises.
Gull numbers went up from this morning, with probably 250-300 gulls
around the dam this afternoon, up from probably a hundred or so. The
Great Black-backed hasn't been seen since Jeff saw it 3 times this
morning, but it tended to float downriver and then fly back up to get
something to eat and then float back down, so can easily still be in the
area.
Jeff is planning on birding the area again tomorrow.
Good birding!!
