FreeLists / tn-bird / [TN-Bird] Great Black-backed Gull @ Pickwick Dam 2/07/04

Jeff Wilson just called to report a classic 1st-winter Great Black-back
around the Dam area at Pickwick. He saw the bird both above and below
the Dam. There aren't a lot of birds in the area right now, a few
hundred, but enough to keep you interested. Other than the Black-back,
just Ring-billed and Herring's of various plumages.

The Great Black-back is very aggressive as they tend to be, even chasing
down Great Blue Heron's to steal their fish. There is a contingent of
east TN birder's in the area, and Jeff may stay in the area as well, so
maybe something else good will turn up. I may try to go down after work
in the morning, if my dragging *** lets me!
