Tn birders,
This afternoon Redheads (24) and Buffleheads (28) were the highlights
at Eagle Bend Fish Hatchery in Clinton, Anderson County, TN/ Also
2 Lesser Scaup F, and 1 F Canvasback
The Snow Goose was still present as he has been my last 2 trips through.
- Ring-Billed Gulls and a couple Herring gulls.
3 Great Blue Herons were standing on nests along the Clinch River.
A neck-collared Canada Goose was present- White -with black letters/
X88A
I have cont. to have 8-14 Purple Finch here at my feeder in Campbell
County this week.
Cove Lake State Pk (Campbell County, TN) has been rather quiet the past
week, though the local ducks were very happy today with the water levels
spilling into the fields/ walkway. There have been higher numbers of
Ring-Billed Gulls this winter than the previous 6 yrs of living in the
county and I keep hoping for something unusual. A Snow Goose (Imm) has
stayed the past month.
Yesterday in Scott County, I found 96 Ring-Neck Ducks at the Huntsville
resevoir for a high count for me for that county. REDHEAD (14) were also
present at Lake Elizabeth near Oneida, as well as Scaup.
I recently "defected" from Tennessee to the SC coast for some good ole
Carolina's birding at the Carolina Bird Club winter meeting. Highlights
were too numerous to count-
(125 species , a nice winter count for me)- Short-Eared Owls and
thousands of ducks and shorebirds galore at Savannah Spoil area and NWR
were exciting to sort through. I just had to throw this in for all of you
who have been emailing and wondering why my posts have slowed down
recently. I WAS birding.....
