[tn-bird] Re: Ross' Goose, Nashville

This bird was still present as of 4:30 PM. I got one really beautiful
close-up digital picture if anyone wants it.
This bird exhibitly markedly different behavior than the 1997 bird, and,
IMO, is a different bird. The 1997 bird tooks its threat-response cues
entirely from the resident ducks and geese, and thus you could literally
walk up to this bird within 5 feet without some much as it blinking an
eye.
This bird, on the other hand, also took its cues from the locals - but
only up to a point. I was consistently able to approach to about 20
feet with no real response from the goose, but once I got within 20
feet, the goose started getting very nervous and walking away, even
though the other birds went on about their business. Despite several
attempts, I was never able to broach this 20 foot threshhold.
When I left, it was back to feeding in the grass right where I found it.
