French Broad River/Douglas Lake

We decided to take advantage of sunshine and a strong current to float a 
canoe downstream from the Leadvale boat ramp through the 10 Islands area to 
Walters Bridge yesterday from 3:00 to 5:00 PM.  Douglas Reservoir elevation 
was 958.4, so we didn't reach still water.  There  were decent mudflats, 
relatively few species.

Wood duck
Mallard (5)
Green-winged teal (13)
Hooded merganser (5)
Double-crested cormorant
Great Blue Heron (24 - one had a yellow object -fishing lure? - lodged on 
the crook in its neck)
Killdeer (52)
Ring-billed Gull (520 - most were on a shoal below Rankin Bottoms )
American pipit (4)
