[TN-Bird] Sparrow hawk back; misses mouse at door.

Hello TN-Birders,
Just as I sat down at my computer around 3:30 PM, a flash of blueish wings
was evident just five feet away as the sparrow hawk made a dive for a mouse on
my deck in the Charlotte Park area of West Nashville, Davidson County, just
east of the Cumberland River across from Bell's Bend. Obviously it missed its
intended meal. The bird flew up to a utility pole in a neighbor's yard
from which it continued to watch my deck. It definitely was not eating, so I
assume it missed. A few moments later, it flew from the pole to a place on a
wire about 30 feet above the deck at about an 11:00 position to continue
watching. I took a couple of photos, then got busy on the computer. I saw no
action on the deck; no mice had the nerve to show themselves. Every now and
then, I'd check and the sparrow hawk was still watching. It's gone now, and
the
mice are running around on the deck in the fading light. Now, where is my
great horned owl when I need it? How about my screech owl? C'mon, "Owlies,"
your "smorga-mouse" awaits!!!!!!!!!!
Cheers & prayers,
Dee Thompson
