Sunday Jan 8 my wife Eula, daughter Kathy and I visited the Big Sandy unit  
of the TN National Wildlife Refuge in Henry county.
 
At Britton Ford Elkhorn observation platform we saw;
four Bald Eagles, 2 adult and 2 juveniles
1 Northern  Harrier                     
Lesser Scaup many
Bufflehead many
redheads many
Goldeneye many
Mallards some
Ruddy many
Great Blue Heron two
 
At Pace Point
Horned Grebes several hundred
Ring Bill Gulls hundreds
Thayer's gull dozens
Mallard several
White Pelican 27
Lesser Scaup dozens
Common Loon several
Bufflehead many
 
Between the old maintenance shed and the eagle roosting area
Golden eagles 2
Red Tail Hawk 1
Coopers Hawk 1
Black Vulture 2
Cackling Geese 17
Belted Kingfisher 1
Morning Dove 1
 
Weather was fairly warm but very windy. Gusts up to 30 MPH.  Water  mostly 
very choppy.
