[TN-Bird] Crow roost, bluebird, common grackles

Good Morning,

Apparently, the crow roost along I-40 between the 46th Street & White Bridge
Road Exits in West Nashville, Davidson County, is doing well. This morning,
at around 6:15, I stopped at the Walgreen's at Charlotte Pike & White Bridge
Road to get a paper before heading downtown to early church. When I came
out, I heard the cawing of at least a couple of thousand crows coming from the
direction of the Interstate just east of where I was. Since it was still
dark, I could not make any sight observations after I got onto I-40. When I
came back, I noticed that all those "right-of-way trees" were no longer there
having been removed for the massively elaborate new interchange at White
Bridge
Road. There still are many trees in the yards of homes that still flank the
Interstate. The crows must be roosting in those trees. With all that early
morning noise, I'll bet those residents are just about ready for a good, old
fashioned crow shoot! If I could hear them from Walgreen's door, think what
it must be like in those folks yards! Many, many of those crows fly over my
place on their way to Bell's Bend to feed with quite a few stopping in my
yard to see if they can find edibles. In fact, about ten of them are out
there
strutting around right now.

That beautiful bluebird that I've been seeing at home in the Charlotte Park
area of West Nashville was back on my wire again yesterday afternoon, and I
also had about 300 common grackles inundating my hackberry trees.

Happy birding,

Dee Thompson
Nashville, TN
