Late on Saturday, I got a call from Clyde Blum (Chattanooga), he had  
returned to Covington and this time was successful in seeing the Golden-crowned 
 
Sparrow. Apparently the bird was seen very early in the morning before Clyde  
arrived and then not again till dusk. The bird visited the area below the 
feeder  
for just a short period of time. Please give the Kunkels a call before coming  
and evidently be prepared for a long wait between the bird's visits. This 
bird  can be easily missed or overlooked as it sometimes skulks in the brushy 
ravine  behind the house.
 
Thanks to Clyde for his report and congrats for being persistent and adding  
a fine bird to his TN list. There are many interested in the status of this 
bird  but few reports. Timely reports of success or failure would be  helpful.
