We regret to inform others that our member, Frank Crawford, last night, passed
away. Aside from usual maladies of the age (84yrs), Frank was in good health,
overall. Unfortunately, he suffered a stroke on the day of our CBC (Dec 27th)
but was working a crossword puzzle upon our return that day as his daughter,
Kay Brinkhurst, had called to check on him. It was then obvious he was somewhat
addled and quickly a trip to the hospital followed.
Kay has been President of our chapter for many years in the past and is now
vice-President. Her father never came to state meetings, thus many of you will
not know him. He always was a supporter of TOS and enjoyed nature. He gladly
watched his feeder for our count lists. Often times past, his yard would even
get the snipe. We didn't think he felt well enough this year (a supposed
flu-like bug) to even observe feeders this year, but he did. He counted
white-crown sparrows and some others, which we always appreciated. This is
indicative of Frank...even on his last day out of the hospital, he went out for
errands but was making an effort to note the feeder when he was around AND
write it down. Frank Stanton Crawford was sharp in his mind (worked
crosswords, read avidly) and a talented woodworker. His kind nature and talents
of a great man will surely be missed by those who knew him. Our heartfelt
prayers and thoughts go to Kay Brinkhurst (husband Ralph) and family.
