FreeLists / tn-bird / [TN-Bird] grebe in Blount County

Around 2 p.m. this afternoon I saw a grebe on the water behind the Atlanta 
Bread Company in Alcoa (Blount County, Tennessee).  I couldn't get a close 
enough look through binoculars to determine just what species it was ... 
either a horned or an eared I'm pretty sure and I'm leaning towards a 
horned. It was black & white, head appeared pale, had white undertail 
coverts, was small, had a grebe-shaped head and a light colored bill (I 
think).  It disappeared as I was walking around the path to try to get a 
closer look.  It was the only bird on the water.

Think I'll go back tomorrow and see if it's around.
