that was held on Saturday, December 20, 2003.

Birders were: Jay Desgrosellier, Jerry Drewry, Bob Foehring, Mark Greene, Joe
Guinn, Ken Leggett, Don Manning, Nancy Moore, John Noel, Joe Stone, Sabin
Thompson, Mike Todd, Melinda Welton, and Jeff Wilson.
Notes:
Fourteen birders counted 115 species which was 1 below our all-time record of
116 which we tied last year.
Highlights:
Vermillion Flycatcher - still hanging around at the Airpark, a first for the
Reelfoot CBC!
Northern Waterthrush - 4th Reelfoot CBC record, the first since 1980.
Common Yellowthroat - 3 were seen in 3 different locations!
Other highlights included:
Ross's Geese (3), Greater Scaup (22 total species of waterfowl), Common Loon
(9, highest count ever for Reelfoot CBC), American White Pelican, Least
Sandpiper, American Woodcock, Eurasian Collared-Dove, Short-eared Owl, Fish
Crow, Sedge Wren, Marsh Wren, American Pipit, Orange-crowned Warbler (at 2
different locations), Pine Warbler (4 total species of warblers), American Tree
Sparrow, Chipping Sparrow, Lincoln's Sparrow, Lapland Longspur, Western
Meadowlark (a total of 4 birds were seen at 2 different locations), and
Brewer's Blackbird.
Species seen in very impressive numbers included 20,000+ Ring-billed Gulls
(10,000+ seen in 3 different roosts on the lake and 10,000 seen near the prison
farm) and 100,000 American Robins coming to a roost at dusk near Tiptonville.
Misses were Northern Bobwhite, Red-breasted Nuthatch, LeConte's Sparrow (no
habitat), Purple Finch, and Pine Siskin.
