The Norris CBC was held December 14.  There were 18 participants in 9-10
parties, and 60 party hours.  Temperatures in 30s throughout the day,
overcast, windy, and very light sleet/drizzle/ snow flurries until early
afternoon.

The species count was a record high 82.  There was also an additional
subspecies, an Audubon's Yellow-rumped Warbler, reported by Dean Edwards.
New species for the count:
Canvasback, 1 at Eagle Bend hatchery, seen by 2 parties
Merlin, 1 seen and photographed by Dean Edwards
Rufous Hummingbird, a young male near Clinton, banded in November

Other noteworthy species:
Ring-necked Duck - 89, record high
Bald Eagle - 4 ad, 1 imm, record high (previous 4) and first since 1997
Bonaparte's Gull - 130, record high
Herring Gull - 1, 2nd time on count
high numbers for most woodpeckers
+/- normal numbers for Blue Jay and American Crow
Horned Lark, 50 in corn stubble near Andersonville, record high and only 3rd
time on count
Red-breasted Nuthatch - 1, very few reports from region this fall/winter
House Wren - 1, 2nd time on count
Cedar Waxwing - 136, low
Red-winged Blackbird - 206, record high
Brown-headed Cowbird - 50, record high and first since 1994
Purple Finch - 0, only previous miss in 1998
