This morning (1-1-03) I observed an adult Trumpeter Swan in south Bristol 
(northeast TN).  The bird has yellow wing-tags with black numerals (# 612), 
thus it is undoubtedly from a re-introduction program somewhere up north.  The 
bird is on a small pond at the sports complex on hwy 394, near Bristol Motor 
Speedway.  Go to the softball fields in the back right.  There is a gravel 
trail going to the easily seen pond.  You can see the swan from the top of the 
hill without going down the trail.
    I have reported the color-markings to the Bird Banding Lab & should know 
the bird's provenance soon.
