This remark got me thinking. Actually, I don't want one tool which
does it all. What I would like, however, is the choice of a set of
tools (from many vendors) which perform different types of SI
analysis, all of which linked via a *standard* interchange format.
Question: Besides SPICE, Ibis, and the maligned EDIF format -- which
are really for describing circuit topologies and VI characteristics --
are there any standardized interchage formats used in the SI
community? In particular, how is the physical construction of
waveguides, PC board traces & planes, etc. captured? Is it only in
proprietary vendor formats (i.e. PCB files), or are there standard
interchage formats for physical information?
I don't think Gerber is used as an input format for SI tools, is it?
