Thanks for your instructive comments.

Lossless parameter assumptions offer simplicity and convenience, and are
thereby the preferred choice whenever feasible.  Particularly,  the
dielectric
conductance " G " is negligible in many circumstances.  As you have pointed
out, it is important to explore the reasons behind approximations and to
understand their limits. Calculating RLCG parameters analytically ( rather
than using a field solver program ) for some cases can also provide
valuable insight.
