Mick,

"Je pense" a 2.5D simulation is a simulation of a planar conductor
geometries (X-Y plan) with a planar substrate in the third dimensional
space. In a 2.5D sims, the X-Y plan contains the currents AND there is NO
current flowing along Z-axe. Sometimes, the current may flow along Z axe,
but NOT in the X-Y plan. Example: Vias.

In other words, we talk about a "2.5D" simulation methods when there is
planar restriction on the current flow.  

Example: Momentum is 2.5D simulator.

Hello,

        A simple but unclear (to me) question. What is the exact definition
of "2.5D problems" ? If we search "2.5 D simulation", we can find some
products. Because the problem has been there for a while.   Please advice
academic references or support instead of "I think".
