[SI-LIST] edge slope in eye diagram

                Hello si-list,

                Currently we've been observing the behavior that we would
like to understand better.

                The setup is the following:

                SerDes driver - 16inch of 100 ohm differential trace -
SerDes receiver

                SerDes devices are internally terminated to 100ohm.

                Equipment : Agilent86100 DCA.
                Differential 6330 Tektronix probe.

                The attached picture is the sample of what we are seeing at
the receiver end.
                We are not using the pre-emphasis at this point.

                As you can see from the picture a transition from one state
to the other always hesitates at about the 2/3s 

             point and then continues the transition.

             What we expected from this picture is that the signal at the
receiver would continue its exponential rise
             until a state change and not the hesitation mentioned above.

             Hspice simulation shows close correlation to this picture.

             Any input on this subject is greatly appreciated.
