[SI-LIST] scope errors by emi from signal source

Hi All,

I have been writing again, this time about how to recognize an
important mechanism whereby EMI can creep into scope measurements.

This month's Technical Tidbit discusses mechanisms whereby error can
be generated in a measurement by EMI from the source itself.

Abstract: Measurement of high amplitude impulsive signals, such as
ESD, can incur errors due to radiated effects. The characteristics of
these effects are discussed and ways to spot such errors in a
measurement are given.

This can be a problem in any lab, whether you think you are measuring
ESD or not. Even looking for a logic signal glitch can be confounded
by local impulses not associated with the signal you are looking at.
The article tells how to spot one of these impulses that can cause you
to waste a lot of lab time thinking it is in the circuit.

The link to the article is the picture of the experimental test setup
at the bottom of the home page at http://emcesd.com .
