Giovanni:
This is the classic, definitive symptom of SSN. Something happens at an =
output pin or at a receiver that shouldn't logically happen. Yes, =
Giovanni, your assumption is most likely correct: the so-called "ground" =
(or power supply) reference for the receiver is changing due to =
switching currents on other output pins.
This doesn't necessarily rule out other causes: Plain old crosstalk, or =
SSN coupling through the power supply to that receiver. If the power =
supply changes sufficiently during a switching transient, conceivably =
the receiver reference could change enough to cause it to detect the =
input level incorrectly. Impossible to say without knowing the schematic =
of your chip. =20
Remember Art's rule number 12,497: "There is no such thing as 'ground'". =

Subject: [SI-LIST] SSN can affect input behaviour?
Hi all,
Could the SSN in a component cause a receiver - in the same component -
to fail?
A signal always static high sometimes is read as low. SSN could be
important in this component, but I do not figure the model of what is
happening: could it be due to the reference GND of that receiver that
grows during a H->L simultaneous transition?
Best regards,
Giovanni
