Hi Pat and the group,
A trick we used at Bell Labs was to use an thermal/infared camera to
view the board while it was being fed a controlled amount of current.
The warm spot is makes finding the short easy. Back then the camera
had to be filled with liquid nitrogen first, but these days I suspect
this is not necessary and the cameras are a lot cheaper.
