[SI-LIST] S-parameter simulation in NSpice

Dear SI engineers,
As a regular reader of this group, I've noticed some discussion on how
to combine package/board measurement data together with I/O circuitry
in order to accurately run circuit analysis. The difficulty lies mainly
in two
parts: First, the package and board information are best represented by
scattering parameters, which is in frequency domain, while designers need
to analyze the circuit behavior in time domain; Second, existing Spice
cannot take S-parameters directly in transient simulation. So lumped-element
approaches (e.g. RCL, transmission line) is typically used. Such simplified
approach results in significant accuracy degradation for high-speed, wide-
band designs.
Nspice was developed to address these issues. With NSpice, designers can
efficiently use measured S-parameters in their normal Spice transient
simulation and obtain accurate results when compared with measurement
data.
NSpice Highlights
o) Takes S-parameter data file directly
o) Supports Spice elements/devices (including BSIM3 mosfet model)
o) Hspice-compatible input
o) Performs run-time timing/power/IR-drop checks
o) Runs on: Solaris7&8, RH-Linux 7 & up, HP-UX 11
